04. How to Transfer an Existing Domain to Jiinubi

How to Transfer an Existing Domain to Jiinubi

Ready to bring your domain home to Jiinubi? Transferring your domain lets you manage your billing, hosting, and domain settings all in one place.

Bonus
Most domain transfers include a FREE 1-year extension added to your domain’s current expiry date.

Phase 1: Preparing Your Domain (At Your Current Registrar)

Before starting the transfer on Jiinubi.com, you must prepare the domain at your current provider.

  1. Unlock the Domain
Log in to your current registrar and locate the Registrar Lock or Domain Lock setting. Set it to OFF.
  2. Disable Privacy Protection
Turn off ID Protection or WHOIS Privacy. The transfer system must see your administrative email address.
  3. Get the EPP / Authorization Code
Request the Authorization Code (EPP Code) from your registrar. This acts like a one-time password for transferring your domain.
  4. Check Your Administrative Email
Confirm that the Admin Email on the domain is active and accessible. This is where the transfer approval link will be sent.
ICANN Rule
Domains must be at least 60 days old before they can be transferred.

Phase 2: Initiating the Transfer on Jiinubi

  1. Go to the Transfer Page
On the Jiinubi storefront, navigate to Domains → Transfer Domains to Us.
  2. Enter Your Domain Name
Type in the domain you wish to transfer and click Transfer.
  3. Enter the EPP Code
Paste the Authorization (EPP) Code exactly as provided by your current registrar.
  4. Add to Cart & Checkout
Complete checkout. You will be charged for a 1-year renewal, which is added to your existing expiry date.

Phase 3: The Waiting Period

  • Approve the Transfer Email
Shortly after checkout, you’ll receive an email (often from the registry). Click the Approve link to confirm the transfer.
  • 5–7 Day Processing Window
Most transfers complete within 5 to 7 days. Your website remains online as long as nameservers are unchanged.
  • Transfer Completion
Once finished, you’ll receive a “Domain Transfer Completed” email from Jiinubi.

Important Checklist for a Smooth Transfer

  • Start Early: Begin the transfer at least 15 days before expiry to avoid interruptions.
  • Nameservers: Your domain keeps its current nameservers by default. To use Jiinubi hosting, update nameservers after the transfer completes.
  • Email Services: Email accounts do not transfer automatically. You’ll need to recreate email addresses in your Jiinubi cPanel.

Need Help?

If your transfer shows as Rejected or Failed, it’s usually due to:
  • The domain still being locked
  • An incorrect or expired EPP code
Our support team can help diagnose and re-initiate your transfer at no extra cost.
