Setting up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Passwords can be stolen, but 2FA ensures that even if someone has your password, they cannot access your account without your physical mobile device. At Jiinubi, you can secure both your Billing Account (Client Area) and your Hosting Control Panel (cPanel).

Phase 1: Secure Your Jiinubi Client Area

This protects your billing information, support tickets, and domain ownership.

  1. Log in to the Jiinubi Client Area.
  2. Click Hello, [Name]! in the top right and select Security Settings.
  3. Click the blue button: Click here to Enable.
  4. Select Time-Based Tokens and click Get Started.
  5. Scan the QR Code using an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator).
  6. Verify: Enter the 6-digit code generated by your app.
  7. Save the Backup Code:
The system provides a Recovery Code. Copy and store it safely — it’s the only way to regain access if your phone is lost.

Phase 2: Secure Your cPanel Account

This protects your website files, databases, and emails.

  1. Log in to your cPanel.
  2. In the Security section, click Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. Click Set Up Two-Factor Authentication.
  4. Scan the new QR code with your authenticator app.
  5. Enter the 6-digit security code from the app and click Configure.

Which Authenticator App Should You Use?

App Best For... Key Feature
Google Authenticator Simplicity Fast, lightweight, works offline.
Authy Multi-Device Backs up tokens to cloud; safe if you change phones.
Microsoft Authenticator Enterprise Users Integrates well with Office 365 or Azure.

Warning:
If you lose your phone, you will be locked out. Always save your backup/recovery code in a secure location.

Tip:
Enable 2FA on all important accounts, including your Jiinubi account, WordPress admin, and email accounts linked to hosting.

Notice:
Authenticator apps rely on your phone's clock. If your codes fail, ensure your phone time is set to "Set Automatically."
