Setting Up Domain Forwarding

Domain forwarding (also called a Redirect) allows you to point one domain name to another website. This is useful if you own multiple versions of your domain or want to send visitors to a social media page while your main website is still under construction.

Two Ways to Forward Your Domain

How you set up domain forwarding depends on whether you have a hosting plan with Jiinubi.

• Client Area Forwarding: Best if you only purchased a domain (no hosting).
• cPanel Redirects: Recommended if you have an active hosting plan.

Option 1: Forwarding via the Jiinubi Client Area (No Hosting)

If you purchased a domain without hosting, you can use Jiinubi’s built-in forwarding tool:

1. Log in to your Jiinubi Client Area.
2. Go to Domains → My Domains.
3. Click the Manage button (wrench icon) next to the domain.
4. On the left sidebar, click Management Tools → Manage Domain Forwarding.
5. Destination URL:
   Enter the full address (e.g., https://www.destination.com).
6. Select Redirect Type:
   • 301 (Permanent) – Recommended for SEO
   • 302 (Temporary) – Use for short-term redirects
7. Click Save Changes.

Option 2: Forwarding via cPanel (With Hosting)

If your domain is connected to an active Jiinubi hosting plan, manage redirects in cPanel:

1. Log in to your Jiinubi Dashboard.
2. Enter your cPanel.
3. Scroll to the Domains section and click Redirects.
4. Type: Select 301 (Permanent).
5. https?://(www.)?:
   Choose the domain you want to redirect.
6. Redirects to:
   Enter the full destination URL (e.g., https://your-new-site.com).
7. www. Redirection:
   Select Redirect with or without www.
8. Click Add.

Does domain forwarding affect SEO?
Using a 301 redirect helps SEO by telling search engines to pass ranking authority from the old domain to the new one.

Can I forward my domain to a social media page?
Yes. You can redirect your domain to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or any other public URL. This is ideal while your website is still being built.

Does forwarding work instantly?
No. Like other DNS-related changes, it can take 1–4 hours to work globally.

What is “Masking”?
Masking keeps your domain name in the browser while displaying another website. We do not recommend masking because most modern platforms block it, and it can cause mobile and security issues.
