Understanding Invoice Due Dates and Grace Periods
At Jiinubi, we understand that payments can occasionally be delayed. To help keep your website and services online, we’ve established a clear and transparent billing timeline that explains when invoices are due and how much extra time you have before any service disruption occurs.
The Billing Timeline
- Invoice Generation:
For most services, your invoice is generated 14 days before the actual due date. This gives you sufficient time to plan and complete your payment. - The Due Date:
This is the official renewal date of your service. Your payment should ideally be completed by this date to ensure uninterrupted service. - The Grace Period:
If the due date passes and the invoice remains unpaid, your service enters a Grace Period, allowing limited extra time before suspension.
Grace Period & Suspension Rules
The length of the grace period depends on the type of service you are using:
| Service Type | Grace Period | What Happens Next? |
|---|---|---|
| Shared & WordPress Hosting | 5 Days | Account is suspended on the 6th day. |
| VPS & Cloud Servers | 1–2 Days | Server is suspended quickly due to high resource costs. |
| Domain Names | 0 Days | Domains expire immediately on the due date. |
Suspension vs. Termination
It’s important to understand the difference between these two service states:
- Suspension (Temporary):
Your website will display an “Account Suspended” page, and email services will stop working. However, your data remains safe. Once the overdue invoice is paid, the service is automatically restored. - Termination (Permanent):
If an invoice remains unpaid for an extended period (typically 30 days after the due date), the service is terminated. All files, databases, and emails are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Important Note on Domain Names
Domains do not have a grace period where they remain active. Once a domain reaches its expiry date:
- Your website and email services stop working immediately.
- Some domain extensions enter a Redemption Period after expiry.
- Redeeming an expired domain may incur high redemption fees if not renewed within 30 days.
Pro Tip:
Always renew your domains early to avoid downtime, loss of reputation, or additional recovery costs. Keeping your contact email updated ensures you receive automated renewal reminders 14 days and 7 days before expiry.
