Domain Propagation: Why Your Site Isn't Visible Immediately

You’ve paid for your domain and hosting, but when you visit your URL, you may see an error or an old page. This is due to a process called Domain Propagation.

What is Propagation?

Think of the internet like a giant phonebook. When you buy a domain, every "phonebook" (DNS server) in the world needs to update its records to show that your domain now points to Jiinubi.

The Timeline

  • Local Propagation: You might see your site within 1 to 2 hours.
  • Global Propagation: It can take anywhere from 2 to 48 hours for every server worldwide to catch up.

How to Check Status

Use tools like DNSChecker.org to see a map of where your domain is currently active. When you see green checkmarks across the map, propagation is complete!

Can I Speed It Up?

Unfortunately, no one can speed up global propagation, but you can flush your local DNS cache on your computer to see if that helps you view your site sooner.
