Renewing Your Domain Name Automatically
The most common reason websites go offline is a forgotten domain renewal. If your domain expires, your website, professional email addresses, and online brand stop working immediately.
At Jiinubi, we offer an Auto-Renewal system so you never have to worry about missing a renewal deadline.
How Auto-Renewal Works
When Auto-Renewal is enabled for a domain:
- Expiry Notifications:
Jiinubi sends reminder emails 30, 15, and 7 days before your domain expires. - Invoice Generation:
An invoice is automatically created 14 days before the expiry date. - Automatic Payment:
If you have a valid card on file or sufficient account credit, the system will attempt to pay the invoice automatically. - Confirmation:
Once payment succeeds, your domain is renewed with the global registry, and you receive a confirmation receipt by email.
With Auto-Renew enabled, your domain stays active even if you forget the date.
How to Enable (or Disable) Auto-Renewal
You can control Auto-Renewal for each domain individually:
- Log in to your Jiinubi Client Area.
- Go to Domains → My Domains.
- Click the Manage button (wrench icon) next to the domain.
- From the left sidebar, click Auto Renew.
- Click Enable Auto Renew or Disable Auto Renew.
Status Check:
If the status shows Enabled, Jiinubi will attempt to renew the domain automatically. If it shows Disabled, the domain will expire on its Next Due Date unless you pay manually.
Important: Keep Your Payment Method Updated
Auto-Renewal only works if your payment method is active. To avoid renewal failures:
- Credit / Debit Cards:
Update expired cards under Billing → My Cards. - M-Pesa Users:
Because M-Pesa requires a confirmation prompt on your phone, log in and pay the invoice manually as soon as it is generated. - Account Credit:
You can top up your Jiinubi account balance in advance. The system will always use account credit first for renewals.
What Happens If a Domain Expires?
If a domain is not renewed on time, the following stages usually apply:
- Grace Period (≈ 30 Days):
Most domains (such as .com) can still be renewed at the normal price. - Redemption Period:
The registry charges a high recovery fee (often $100+) to restore the domain. - Public Release:
The domain is released back to the public and can be registered by anyone — including competitors.
Once a domain enters Redemption or Public Release, recovery is expensive or impossible.

This locks in current pricing and adds an extra layer of safety.
